This is the 1966 directory by The Price & Lee Company of New Haven CT. It contains an alphabetical directory of business concerns and private citizens; complete street and avenue guide, including householders, and occupants of office buildings and other business places, with telephone numbers; telephone numerical directory, plus, useful and interesting information about the city of Hartford. Contains directories for the city of Hartford and the following towns: East Hartford, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Windsor, Bloomfield, Newington, Farmington, Glastonbury, and Rocky Hill. Free to search, read, and/or download.

Florida Genealogy

  • City of Miami cemetery records
    I stumbled upon this cemetery book while looking for something else today. It’s a little hard to read, but it contains lists of names of lot owners. Lists vary in detail and may include columns with additional information like lot, block and deed numbers, remarks, price and month. Also includes diagrams that display blocks containing lots with names and dates.

American Woodmen Records

  • American Woodmen Insurance Ledger: Index
    Index to life insurance files of insured and beneficiaries 1901 to 1907. American Woodmen’s Life was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1901 as a Fraternal Benefit Society established to provide life insurance for the “un-insurable” Black Community. The register shows in chronological order the name of the insured, “camp and state” of residence, age, name of beneficiary or beneficiaries, and their relationship to the insured. States covered in this first ledger include Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indian Territory [Oklahoma], Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington, D.C. This register represents the first of 40 ledgers. The company went out of business in 1993.

Cemetery Research in Denver, Colorado

Locating the burial place of your ancestors in the Denver area may prove challenging due to certain factors. The earliest cemeteries, Mount Prospect and Acacia, have been relocated and their records are no longer available. Furthermore, death records in Denver were not required until 1900 and were not consistently recorded until about 1925. This article will help explain where your ancestor may now lie buried.

The intention behind this volume is to provide a factual and impartial account of the various Divisions, Brigades, Regiments, and Companies, along with the rank of every citizen who served their country on September 12th and 13th, 1814, at North Point and Fort McHenry. The information is taken from original rolls on file in the 3rd auditor’s office of the War Department. Contains information about York, Pa. volunteers, attached to the 5th Maryland infantry, and Hanover, Pa. volunteers, attached to the 39th Maryland infantry.

County Government and Archives in Pennsylvania

This digest includes an essay on the general governmental organization of the county, with charts showing graphically the structural and functional evolution of the various offices. This summary facilitates the use and comprehension of the subsequent chapters. Individual essays have been written for each county office with a detailed analysis of its development and operation, and with particular reference to its records. An annotated list of the records which may be found in its files follows each office essay. The amount of this information for each office was limited by practical considerations, (since the archival practices present an almost endless maze of variations from county to county.

Harrisburg Newspaper Index

An index of personal names in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania newspaper announcements of marriages and deaths published during the first quarter of the 1800’s. The four newspapers included are: Dauphin Guardian, Oracle of Dauphin, Harrisburg Chronicle, and Harrisburg Republican. There are a few other types of events indexed, including notice of runaway apprentice and a husband not responsible for his wife’s debts. Inclusive dates are 1799-1827.
